Everyone has been hurt. Everyone has been disappointed. I’m sure that more than once, you have felt frustrated or sad when dealing with difficult situations. It is important to understand that there are things beyond your control and that you can’t make others act in a certain way. The only thing within your control is how you feel, and how you deal with the challenges life puts in your way.
I would like to advise you on avoiding the buildup of anger and frustration: free yourself of attachment. You can live unattached and remain a loving, caring person. Love is not attachment. Love is not about possession or permanence. Love is about sharing and wanting others to be happy. Nothing in life is permanent, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. We are always evolving, flowing like water, in constant movement.
Sometimes love is about letting go. It is a selfless, liberating feeling that enhances our development. Wanting to control or to manipulate others isn’t love; it’s your ego talking. Yes, ego-boosts might feel nice for a brief period of time, but they cause emotional vacuums.
Your happiness and peace of mind shouldn’t depend on someone or something other than yourself. No one is obligated to make you happy. Look for happiness within yourself. Attachment can feel like a strong emotional bond, but in the end, attachment leads to unsustainable insanity. Love, on the other hand, may change and evolve, but it can be everlasting.
So let it go! Leave behind what hurts you so much. Holding on to resentment leads us to dark places of suffering. Life is too beautiful for that. Our egos can be devastating. Don’t hang onto the pain, to the past, to that destructive relationship, to those toxic people, to bad habits that keep you from moving forward. Even though some situations are painful, you are always lucky for the opportunity to experience them; you are lucky to be alive. Open your heart to gratitude.
Build the present from an unresentful place of light. It’s time to move forward and leave bitterness behind. Try to keep in mind that just because something is difficult, doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Nothing is impossible if you can imagine it. If you are dreaming of happiness, what are you waiting for? You’ll go further if you carry less baggage.
Leave behind whatever is heavy and useless. Clear up your soul, so you have enough space to welcome your dreams.
